Sloan ECOS™ Dual-Flush Flushometer
The new Sloan ECOS™ from Sloan Valve Company is an electronic dual-flush Flushometer, which combines the water savings of dual-flush technology with the hygienic advantages of hands-free operation.
The battery-powered Sloan ECOS features two buttons, which offer restroom users two water-efficient flush options: Push the small green button for a reduced flush of 1.1 gpf/4.2 Lpf for liquids, or push the large chrome button to initiate a full 1.6 gpf/6.0 Lpf flush for solids.
If the user does not press a button, the Flushometer’s Dual-Flush Smart Sense Technology™ automatically initiates a flush cycle, based on how long the user remains in the sensor range. Users who stay less than a minute activate the reduced flush; users who stay longer activate the full flush.
Exhaustive research and extensive field trials have proven the Dual-Flush Sensing Algorithm to be a reliable and efficient method of controlling flush volume. In addition, advanced state-of-the-art sensor technology eliminates false flushing to further ensure water savings.
Each Sloan ECOS Flushometer comes with two easy-to-understand etched metal instruction plates for placement nearby.
Sloan offers other dual-flush products as well. The new solar-powered Sloan SOLIS® Flushometer provides the same water-saving advantages as the Sloan ECOS, plus it is energy efficient. The Sloan SOLIS runs off any natural or artificial light source, including occupancy-controlled lighting.
Sloan’s UPPERCUT® manual dual-flush Flushometer allows users to tilt the handle up for a 1.1 gpf flush or down for a standard 1.6 gpf flush. The UPPERCUT’s green handle features an antimicrobial coating to help prevent the spread of germs.
All dual-flush technologies are available as complete Flushometers or in retrofit kits to convert existing manual and electronic Flushometers to dual-flush operation.

03. Green Roofs |
|
Roofmeadow® Assemblies
Roofscapes, Inc. has long recognized that all green roofs can be characterized as one of five different Types, loosely ranging from thin, extensive designs to intensive plazas. To satisfy the diverse American market, Roofscapes, Inc. has designed Roofmeadow® assemblies of each Type. Each Roofmeadow® assembly can be modified to satisfy the most challenging architectural and engineering requirements and to provide specific benefits. For example, the thin, low-cost, lightweight RoofRug™ was developed primarily for “big box” type applications in which budget and load restrictions drive the green roof planning. Our Ultralite Plaza, a lightweight mix of lush landscapes and paving is ideal for retrofit applications demanding a stunning, green roof-top amenity space. Alternatively, the Oaklyn Branch Library (Evansville, IN), a Type IV Roofmeadow® Meadow I assembly, exhibits a 14-inch deep wet-mesic prairie meadow. The innovative “roof riffle” design facilitates the base trickle irrigation system, closely approximating natural conditions associated with shallow soil over shale bedrock.
Vegetation Blankets
Sempergreen® vegetation blankets are easy to put into place and the colourful green impact is instant. Nearly all types of roofs are suitable because of the minimal load required to succeed with the Sempergreen® blankets system. Roof tiles? Once you’ve replaced these with some type of roof covering, nothing stops your from creating a green roof.
With Sempergreen® vegetation blankets you immediately see an instant and mature green roof with little or no maintenance. A green roof with Sempergreen vegetation blankets has tremendous stormwater advantages with rain water retention of around 50-80% (depending on regional differences) and provides substantial energy saving.
The Sempergreen® vegetation blankets consist of a coconut fibre blanket, a layer of Sempergreen® substrate and various sedum species. The growth and development of the plants creates an integrated blanket.
The vegetation blankets are delivered as a roll. The standard size is approximately 4 feet wide and 6 feet long (47.3 x 77.8 or 1.20 meters wide and 2.00 meters long), but rolls of up to 60 feet (20 metres) are also available. The reinforced Sedum Mix Blanket Type T is also part of our range of vegetation blankets. This is ideal for sloping or vertical applications.

04. Recycled Aluminum |
| |
emeco recycled aluminum chairs
The content of recycled aluminum used to make Emeco chairs is 80%. Of the recycled aluminum, half is post consumer (soft drink cans) and half is postindustrial (manufacturing scrap). Chairs made out of virgin aluminum have an energy density that is 17 times higher than that of Emeco chairs.
The Emeco factory in Hanover PA conforms to all applicable US, State and Local environmental regulations. It is important to note the recycled content of Emeco chairs but in addition, and perhaps even of greater significance, is the aspect of lifetime costing. Most Emeco aluminum chairs have an estimated lifespan of 150 years or more, making them a sound investment in every way.
Environmentally sound product choices can help a project qualify for LEED™ Certification. Specifying Emeco aluminum furniture contributes to credit #4.2, Recycled Content, because it is made of 80% recycled aluminum; 40% post consumer recycled material and 40% post industrial recycled material.
Specifying Emeco furniture contributes to credit #5.1, Regionally Manufactured Materials, when shipped projects within 500 miles of our Hanover, PA facility – cities on the East Coast from Boston through Washington, DC.
Aluminum does not emit VOCs or aldehydes in any measurable concentration, therefore off gassing requirements are not applicable.

05. Solar Control Insulating Glass |
|
SunGlass™
Exclusive, new SunGlass™ Solar Control Glass delivers the beauty of the sun without the heat. Now architects can specify a neutral color glass that invites the sun in without making building occupants sweat. That’s because SunGlass™ delivers a combination of unprecedented solar control and visible light transmittance. It’s the look you want with the performance you need. SunGlass™ also leaves owners smiling too—with serious reductions in energy costs and HVAC equipment expense. What’s more, SunGlass™ reduces harmful UV rays so interior furnishings will look better, longer.
Unmatched Performance
The Light to Solar Gain (LSG) value of SunGlass™ far outperforms high-performance solar control Low-E glass. The higher the LSG value, the better the glass performs at transmitting daylight and reducing heat gain from the sun.
Uncompromised Aesthetics
Unlike typical high-performance solar control Low-E glass, SunGlass™ is neutral in color and practically clear. So, architects and designers no longer have to specify dark or tinted glass to achieve high solar control performance. And SunGlass™ is only the beginning of our comprehensive offering.

06. Sustainable Alternative to VCT
|

|
Marmoleum® Composition Tile (MCT)
In recent years, environmental and health concerns have lead the industry to look for sustainable alternatives to vinyl flooring. These concerns, combined with PVC price increases, have created the ideal climate to introduce Marmoleum Composition Tile (MCT), the sustainable alternative to VCT.
Made from natural ingredients, MCT linoleum tile provides a better balance between initial cost, ongoing costs, and performance than VCT. MCT features a low cost of ownership and is occupancy ready, requiring no initial maintenance, which is the true hidden cost of flooring products such as VCT. MCT’s naturally inherent antimicrobial and antistatic properties offer improved indoor air quality and combat MRSA and other strains of bacteria, unlike the open seams of VCT.
MCT is 85% organic with 66% bio-based content. It is financially beneficial to LEED projects, and carries the most LCA based certifications of any resilient flooring product. Forbo will guarantee MCT’s installed pricing of $2.75-$3.45 ft2, material, adhesive, and labor inclusive (exclusive of subfloor preparation and moisture mitigation). Plus, with the scratch-resistant Topshield finish and 10 times the indentation resistance of VCT, MCT has a look that lasts for years.
Forbo Flooring Systems was awarded the Sustainable Materials Rating Technology© (SMaRT©) Sustainable Platinum Certification as a building product for Marmoleum and Bulletin Board Products. The SMaRT© Consensus Sustainable Product Standards (CSPS) were developed by The Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability (MTS) to evaluate the environmental performance of a building product over its life. CSPS is important in combating today’s climate of greenwashing, as it is an independently done, peer reviewed, consensus based standard that allows for transparent communication.
